More to come

What we are building next.

This page lists only what we are going to build. Nothing here is a vote, a maybe or a wish list, and the order is the order we intend to work in.

  1. 1Next

    Family plans

One subscription, several accounts, one pool of storage. Every member keeps their own account, password and library; what is shared is the storage and the bill.

    • Two, four or six members, depending on the plan.
    • Each member sees their own library and only the albums shared with them.
    • One person pays and manages the members; nobody else needs a card.
  2. 2Planned

    End-to-end encryption

An optional mode in which photos are encrypted on your device before they are uploaded, with a key that only your devices hold. Photobe would store what it cannot read.

    • Your devices already make every preview themselves; the server renders nothing. Encryption before upload is the missing step.
    • The web viewer would hold the key in the browser, so it keeps working.
    • Designed once and never changed: this is why it comes after everything the server must still be able to do.
  3. 3Waiting on the stores

Subscribe from the App Store and Google Play

Picking a plan inside the iPhone and Android apps and paying through the store, with the same plans and the same rules as on the web.

    • The account, the plan and the library stay the same wherever you paid.
    • The billing side is built; what remains is the store side and the purchase flow in the apps.

How we decide

Photobe is deliberately not a cloud gallery that guesses what your photos are about. What gets built is what keeps a library organized, private and yours, on every device. Organizing is fair game: when a photograph was taken and where it was taken are written in the file already, and turning those into trips, places and searches costs nobody their privacy. Working out what is in the picture is the line, and things that need your photos to be analyzed on a server do not get built, on purpose.
